Renowned cardiologist Naresh Trehan today approached the Delhi High Court with a plea to be made a party to an earlier petition that challenges the transfer of the majority shares of the Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre (EHIRC) to Ranbaxy-promoted Fortis Healthcare.
In an application moved before the court of Justice Geeta Mittal, Trehan prayed to be included as one of the parties to a petition filed last week by Anil Nanda, the brother of Escorts chief Rajan Nanda.
Trehan, who was sacked as Executive Director of EHIRC, contended before the court that he too had a stake in the matter. The matter has been posted for hearing tomorrow.
A few Escorts' doctors, who are supporters of Trehan, also submitted that the court set up a committee to take over the hospital's management.
Trehan, who owns 10 per cent shares at the hospital, has also pleaded before the court to direct Escorts' management to allow him to treat patients with his team of doctors and other support staff, who have either been dismissed or tranferred to other hospitals.
Trehan contended the absence of his team at Escorts has been affecting the smooth functioning at the hospital.
