Sri Sri Sugunendratheertha Swamiji of Sri Puthige Mutt in Udupi who is scheduled to ascend the Paryaya throne for the third time on January 18, 2008, celebrated the customary ‘Baale Muhoortha’ and ‘Akki Muhoortha’ on a grand scale and embarked on a pilgrimage of Kerala in continuation of his pre-Paryaya pilgrimage in conformity with the tradition of the place.
Starting his pilgrimage from Kasaragod, he proceeded to Kanhangad, Kannur, Kozhikkode, Thrissur, Thripunithura, Ernakulam, Kochi, Alappuzha, Kollam, Neyyatinkara and Kanyakumari.
The Swamiji visited famous temples like the Srikrishna and Bhagavathi temples at Guruvayur and Sree Padmanabha temple at Thiruvanathapuram. He participated in various functions organised by the Tulu Brahmins in Kerala. He visited Srikrishna Mandira established by the devotees of Udupi as also the Hanuman Mandira. He spoke and gave sicourses in English and Tulu and outlined the projects he has in mind for his coming Paryaya. The Swamiji will continue his pilgrimage with tours to Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.
