Defending singles and mixed-doubles champion Wang Liqin remained on track for a medal in all of his three disciplines, continuing Chinese supremacy at the World table tennis championships.
The topspin specialist defeated Liu Song of Argentina 11-7, 11-5, 11-3, 11-9 in his singles match to advance to the fourth round.
Earlier, the Chinese teamed with Wang Hao in the men’s doubles to oust Selya Kishikawa and Jun Mizutani of Japan 11-8, 11-8,11-8, 12-14, 6-11, 11-7, and Guo Yue in the mixed doubles to eliminate Oh Sag Eun and Kim Jung Hyum of South Korea 11-8, 11-6, 11-7, 11-10.
Top-seeded compatriot Ma Lin, who is seeking a showdown wih Wang in the finals, also won his three matches. He defeated He Zhi Wn of Spain in the singles 11-8, 15-13, 11-9, 11-8, and partnered wih Chen Qi in doubles to dispose of Lee Jung Woo and Oh Sang En of South Korea 11-5, 9-11, 11-4, 11-5, 11-6.
Ma Lin also advanced to the finals in the mixed doubles with Wang Nan, defeating Joo Se Hyuk nd Park Mi Yuong of South Korea 7-11, 11-6, 11-6,11-4, 10-12, 11-5.
