All beneficiaries of Bhagyalakshmi project will get sanction letters in June announced Minister for Women and Child Development H K Kumaraswamy, here on Friday.
Speaking to reporters here, after hearing the public grievance, Mr Kumaraswamy said, “The implementation of the project was delayed due to delay in the tender process. Now, the tender process is in its final stages and sanction letters will be issued to all beneficiaries simultaneously in June at all taluks” he said.
An amount of Rs 225 crore has been ear-marked in the current fiscal year. officials have been instructed to carry out repeat survey to identify eligible beneficiaries, he said.
The Balika Samruddhi project, implemented by the Central government in 2001-02 has been stalled since 2005 due to non-availability of addresses of the beneficiaries. Out of the 45,000 beneficiaries, the addresses of 5000 are not available. “We do not want Bhagyalakshmi project also to go the same way. Hence certain conditions are put before implementing the project” he said. The government is also envisaging fixing retirement age for Anganawadi workers and assistants between 60 and 62 and also to provide insurance and other benefits, he said.
The other schemes introduced by the government includes Rs 20,000 loan to poor and destitute women belonging to all classes numbering 50,000 under the Amritha project; Rs 10,000 to each woman from weaker section if they get married under mass marriages of 25 couples and the organisation that arranges such mass weddings will get Rs100 per couple as incentive, he said.
