In a bid to attract quality teachers in engineering, the government will offer incentives to post-graduate engineering students to teach UG students.
“We will offer them additional stipend to act as teaching assistant and conduct classes for BE students”, Higher Education Secretary Koushik Mukerjee told reporters at the sidelines of the announcement of CET results in Bangalore on Friday.
The government is also contemplating to provide additional salary to PG students who decide to take up teaching as a full time career after their studies, he said. Mr Mukerjee said around 15 engineering colleges would be granted autonomy.
