Taking strong exception to the manner in which admissions were made in certain professional colleges, the High Court sought to know from the government as to who formed the committee which looked into the matter.
Justice Ram Mohan Reddy was hearing a petition filed by Telugu speaking students who alleged that they were not given a seat under the minority quota.
It was submitted to the court that the colleges had in agreement with the government made the admissions and the selection was more merit based.
It was also submitted that a committee had approved the same.
The court however took strong exception while questioning, “ who are your members?” Non-educationists, thumb impressionists and bootleggers seem to be part of the process.”
Fine on schools
The Karnataka High Court will on Tuesday hear a batch of petitions challenging the government decision to impose fine on schools which were derecognised.
The matter will be heard by Justice Ram Mohan Reddy.
The High Court had on an earlier occasion stayed the decision of the government to impose a fine until June 4.
The High Court which had also stayed the derecognition had permitted the schools to make admissions only to the medium in which it had obtained permission.
