Of a man and his mission
For T Raja aka auto Raja, rescue operations have become a part of everyday life for over 10 years now with a family that grows in number every month. They become a part of his family the moment they set foot into New Ark Mission of India (NAMI).
Adding zing to traditional dance
The Shiri Dance Trust is among one of the first dance companies in India to have formed a neo-traditional dance form. The dance trust was established in the year 2005, and in a short period has performed at many prestigious events in South India.
ON STAGE
A play on Gujarat riots
The latest offering from Still Waters, Dust motes from the sunbeam, is inspired by a specific event during the conflict in Gujarat. The play focuses on the human side of the tragedy in general and the impact of communal violence on women.
TALKING POINT
Fuming on the roads
It's like Bangaloreans are developing a whole new personality. The benign, cheerful Bangalorean has been transformed into a rude, obnoxious, foul mouthed citizen whom you would rather not know.
BACK AND FORTH
Quiet witness to changing times
The Holy Trinity Church was built more than a hundred and fifty years ago, because St. Marks Cathedral was the only government church and was unable to accommodate the large english speaking congregation.

Woman for Prez?

The term of A P J Abdul Kalam is coming to an end. Should India go in for a woman President? If so, who should be the first woman President?
Most of Deccan Herald readers are of the opinion that the idea of ‘Woman as President’ is as exciting as old wine in a new bottle. While some feel that the time is ripe, most are unanimous in their opinion that only a non-political nominee would fit the bill for the highest office in the country.
