As the State Revenue Department resumed the public auctioning of recovered government land on Tuesday, a majority of the sites clocked prices higher than guidance values but they continued to fall well short of the government-quoted prices. Of the 14 sites in Bangalore North and Anekal Taluks that went under the hammer on Tuesday, 10 fetched prices higher than guidance values of the respective areas.
However, all the 14 sites were auctioned at prices lower than what the government quoted as expected prices. Only one site — 34 guntas in Arehalli Village, Attibele Hobli — got close, fetching Rs 96 lakh against a government quote of Rs one crore.
Re-auction likely
The Department clocked Rs 25.01 crore by auctioning 61 acres and one gunta of land. With the Bangalore Urban District Commissioner maintaining that bids that fell short of the stipulated figure — 150 per cent more than the guidance value — would be rejected, a majority of the sites auctioned on Tuesday are in for a re-auction.
Among the low-fetching sites were a 11 acre-30 gunta survey number in Matthahalli (Dasanapura Hobli) that was auctioned for a paltry 1.67 crore against an expected price of Rs 12 crore. Based on the guidance value in the area, the site is valued at Rs 3.29 crore. A 15-acre site in Punagamaranahalli (Taverekere Hobli) was not auctioned because there were no bidders.
