Department of Animal Husbandry has not violated rule while releasing funds sanctioned under the Centre’s special package for farmers to Karnataka Milk Federation, Mr Raju Premkumar, the principal secretary said.
This reaction came from the principal secretary over cell-phone, when journalists met Animal Husbandry minister Revu Naik Belamagi on Tuesday and asked his reaction to Congress leader D K Shivakumar’s allegation that the funds released under the package has been diverted to KMF violating the norms.
Admitting that he was not aware of the diversion of funds, the minister called the principal secretary over phone and asked him to react to reporters’ query.
Mr Premkumar said, of Rs 15 crore allotted to the department to take up relief works Rs 12 crore has been released to KMF to take up works related to cattle rearing, production of fodder and other related works.
However KMF is one among the implementing agencies and the funds has been released according to the guidance issued by the Centre.
However the minister said that he was not aware of the issue as he could not attend the Cabinet meeting, in which the government took that decision.
Vacancies
Mr Belamagi said his department is finding it difficult to get eligible candidates for the post of veterinary doctors.
