'Cong wanted me to contest'  
Mamtha Nichani, daughter of former Chief Minister Ramakrishna Hegde and Congress candidate from Ramanagara constituency clarified on Wednesday that she was contesting the elections only because senior leaders in the Congress party had asked her to.
HDK to visit city today

Udupi getting ready for polls... Police taking out a route march in Udupi on Friday to instill confidence among the members of the public in view of the forthcoming Assembly elections. Though no untoward incidents have taken place in Udupi, the police are making security arrangements for the free and fair conduct of elections. Nearly 200 policemen and 40 officers took part in the route march. DH Photo
