Prep your make-up palette with the plum picks of the season. Shilpi Madan has all the tricks
The fashion weeks in the country have set the pace with the unlocking of their style predictions for 2008, but you are still hanging on to those boring browns and matte maroons. Make up expert and fashion stylist Clint Fernandes shares secrets you can employ in self wizardry.
Boho rocks
It is the glam bohemian look that is rather modish and in vogue. The fun, fearless and flirty feel that leaves your skin moist and onlookers breathless. Bring in the slick picks in the form of iridescent foundation. It lends a special sparkle to your face and revs up your confidence by kilotons. Choose a pretty posy of pinks and purples with flecks of metallic frost to 'lift' the eyes. If you must favour the browns, opt for caramelised shades and mocha runes as opposed to dull tones of the colour. Then work up your sooty lashes with a volume enhancing mascara. The colour of passion cavorts on lips in both lipsticks and lip gloss. Either outline and fill in lips with lip liner and top up with sassy gloss or go the full pout with a creamy rendition of simply red. What is important here is the right choice of red in keeping with your complexion. There is a red for every skin. Even if you are a novice when it comes to applying make up, do keep in mind that the sales people at most make up counters, especially from reputed brands are trained by qualified professionals to help you choose the correct colour tone and product according to your skin or hair type.
Tricks to toy with
*Keep the eyes deep and mysterious, with plenty of kohl and mascara," suggests Clint. "Use a bronzer at highlight points on your face. Avoid too much bronzer as it can make you look tacky.
*You can stick to pearl pinks for daywear and keep the lips rich in berry tones for the night.
nMake use of a straightening cream to wear your mane poker straight. If your face is fuller, use benders to bring in blowsy curls. Super straight pony tails with broad headbands are also very in for the season.
*Excessive use of serum in the hair makes it look very oily or stringy.
*Avoid too much gloss on the lips as it can drip all over. Less looks slick.
