Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) will set up a new engine plant in Chennai with a total investment of Rs 2,000 crore, HMIL Managing Director H S Lheem said here on Saturday.
“Of Rs 10,000 crore investment plan in India, we have invested 80 per cent in our two existing facilities. The rest will be for the engine plant which will manufacture both diesel and petrol engines," Mr Lheem said briefing reporters after inaugurating Trident Hyundai— HMIL’s new dealership on Hosur Road.
This is Hyundai’s 13th dealership in Karnataka, taking the total number in South to 54.
The new Trident Hyundai facility spread across an area of 55,000 sq ft can showcase the entire range of Hyundai cars.
Hyundai, he said, will launch its new i20 by the year-end. Like i10, it will be manufactured in India and exported.
