Former chief minister M Veerappa Moily has said that Congress has decided to back S Bangarappa in Shikaripura against B S Yeddyurappa to avert the disaster of Narendra Modi Model Government coming into existence.
Addressing a news conference on Sunday, Mr Moily rejecting the statement of BJP that Congress and JD(S) have secretly joined hands to keep BJP away from power, said that Congress has no need to indulge into a secret alliance with any party as Congress will win with clear majority.
He said that former prime minister H D Deve Gowda has the over confidence that there can be no government in the State without his support for which the people will give an apt answer.
“Everyone is fed up of the unstable government which ruled over the state for 20 months. It was like a nightmare for the people of the State,” he added.
He further said that B S Yeddyurappa’s government fell within in 7 days because the mines and Town planning was left for JD(S). He opined that anyhow if the government had continued then the State would have soon emerged as a lost or defeated State.
MLC Janardhan Reddy made allegations against the then CM H D Kumaraswamy of corruptions while Tourism Minister Shreeramulu alleged HDK of murder. Despite this, no order was passed to hold enquiry into the matter.
Instead both the parties clung on to each other tightly for power.
“Karnataka is too unfortunate to have seen such a phase of opportunist politics, which has never happened in the nation elsewhere,” he added.
Reiterating that after demolishing the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya, the Sangha Parivar activists looted the money box of Ramlal Mandir, Mr Moily said that he was making that allegations on the basis of the proof.
He further said that as far as the election manifesto of Congress is concerned, Congress will fulfil all the points assured in the manifesto on coming to power. KPCC Member T P Ramesh and others were present.
