Bangaloreans rank third among visitors to Goa

Bangaloreans rank third on the list of highest number of domestic tourist arrivals in Goa with nearly 10 per cent of the 2.2 million domestic tourists visiting Goa annually. The highest numbers however are from Kolkata followed by Gujarat.


The Goa Tourism Department was in the City to kickstart their road show to woo tourists from Bangalore this summer and further reap the tourist potential in the State. From Karnataka, there are a high number of tourists from Karwar, Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada as well, he said.

Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Director, Goa Tourism, Elvis Gomes said Goa has ten times more domestic tourist arrivals than foreigners. The power of spending on Indian tourists is also incredible, he added.

Domestic Tourist arrivals for 2006 was 20,98,654 and in 2007 the numbers rose to 22,08,986. Foreign tourist arrivals in comparison was 3,80,414 in 2006 and 3,88,457 in 2007. Highest number of foreign arrivals are from UK, Russia followed by Germany.
