To commemorate Sri Basaveshwara Jayanthi, the Karuna Animal Welfare Association of Karnataka will be observing an 'Animal Welfare Fortnight 2008' from May 8 to 22 during which various animal welfare programmes will be conducted.
Briefing the media, president Dr B C Ramakrishna said the objective of the programme was to create awareness on unnecessary pain and cruelty perpetuated on animals.
The function will be inaugurated with a Gopuja on May 8 at the Dairy Farm in the Veterinary College Campus at Hebbal.
