Bhajji, Sreesanth summoned

The Board of Control for Cricket in India-appointed Commissioner Sudhir Nanavati, inquiring into the slapping row after an IPL match, has summoned Harbhajan Singh and S Sreesanth, the two players involved in the episode ten days ago, to Ahmedabad.

“I have summoned them. They have been told to come either on Friday or Saturday. Harbhajan will be coming on Friday. Sreesanth is yet to confirm a date,” he said on Monday.

Nanavati has been asked by the BCCI to probe the incident which happened after the IPL match between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab.

“I have already recorded statement of one of the umpires of the match, Amish Saheba. I will be meeting the match referee Farokh Engineer tomorrow in Mumbai,” Nanavati said.

Mumbai Indians, Daredevils cop fines

Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils have been fined for maintaining slow over-rates during their clash at the DY Patil stadium in Navi Mumbai on Sunday night.

The home team’s elation of stunning their rivals by 29 runs in a low-scoring match was dampened a bit when they copped a fine of $1000 from match referee Javagal Srinath for bowling two overs short in the stipulated period. The Delhi outfit, led by Virender Sehwag, was also fined $500 for bowling one over short, an IPL media release said.

No SRK show at  Eden on May 8

Shah Rukh Khan would not perform at the next IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Bangalore Royal Challengers at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on May 8 as a concrete proposal had not been given by the organisers Red Chillies Entertainment to the Kolkata Police.

“They gave a verbal proposal to organise an entertainment program, but we asked for a concrete proposal but they failed to give it within the stipulated time,” Deputy Commissioner (Headquarters), Vinet Goyal said.

Fielding made the difference: Jayasuriya

Top drawer fielding by the entire team in their last two matches had made a huge difference to the fortunes of the Mumbai Indians outfit, feels one of its key players Sanath Jayasuriya. “The key difference in the last two games has been the fielding. It was of a very high standard and lifted the confidence of the players.”
