More than 22,000 officials drawn from various institutions including the BBMP have been deputed for poll duty.
“These officials have been informed about the constituencies where they should report for duty. Action will be initiated as per law if they do not report for duty,” Ramprasad told Deccan Herald.
In a press release, the Bangalore Urban District Electoral Officer M A Sadiq has asked all the polling officers to bring two passport size photographs along with them when they report for poll duty on Wednesday.
This is mandatory as per the directions of the Election Commission to issue photo identity cards to the polling officers, the release said. Meanwhile, officials from the Election Commission will meet police officials on Wednesday to discuss arrangements and general deployment of forces on the polling day.
Paid leave
To enable employees of factories, companies and other registered establishments to cast their vote, the Directorate of Factories and Boilers has asked managements of such establishments to sanction paid leave to the employees on the polling day in their constituencies.
In case the companies cannot leave the employees free for the whole day, they have to compulsorily provide adequate time for the workers to cast their vote.
Holiday
The Election Commission has directed the Department of Public Instruction and managements of all colleges and other educational institutions to declare a holiday on the polling days - May 10, May 16 and May 22 - of their respective constituencies. This is to ensure that the staff of these institutions cast their vote, stated an official press release.
