Possibly alarmed by superior Chinese infrastructure on the other side of the border, the Centre has instructed the Border Roads Organisation to complete 61 roads close to the Sino-Indian border in the next four years.
BRO has already completed nine roads, eight more are expected to be ready in 2008. “We have been tasked to finish 61 roads by 2012 for which new units are being raised,” BRO director general Lt Gen Arun Kumar Nanda said.
