‘S M Krishna’ joins BJP
The BJP further consolidated its position in Mahadevapura assembly constituency when S M Krishna, a Bharathiya Praja Paksha candidate withdrew from the fray and joined the BJP. Krishna, who has no connection with his more popular namesake in the Congress, joined the BJP along with Sorahunse Venkatesh, president of Karnataka Dalita Rakshana Vedike with thousands of their supporters.
Yeddy woos minorities
The BJP might not have fielded any member of the minority community in the elections, but it is now talking about providing a cabinet berth to a member of the community.
“We are sure to form the government and in the first round of cabinet expansion we will induct a member of the minority community into the ministry,” senior BJP leader and party’s chief ministerial candidate B S Yeddyurappa told reporters in Bangalore.
Meanwhile, Bangarappa’s close aide, Paramashivaiah joined the BJP, with his supporters.
Parties pour out woes to EC
Various political parties poured out their grievances before the full bench of Election Commission in Bangalore on Wednesday.
BJP leader and MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik complained that there were a number of errors in the names and addresses in the EPICs.
KPCC President Mallikarjun Kharge has expressed concern over the manufacture of counterfeit EPICs by the BJP workers in Bangalore. He urged the CEC to intervene and safeguard the sanctity of the election process.
JD(S) working president C Narayanaswamy has urged the EC to hold a thorough inquiry into the incident wherein hundreds of television sets were being transported allegedly by Congress workers to distribute among voters at Kodegehalli in Byatarayanapura constituency recently.
A consignment of TV sets that were kept in a godown in Byatarayanapura was meant for Edusat programme, and it has got nothing to do with the Congress party in the constituency, the party leader K N Chakrapani said on Wednesday.
