Chief Election Commission N Gopalaswami, the two election commissioners, who arrived in Bangalore held meetings with deputy commissioners, general and expenditure observers and top police officers of the districts of Koppal, Raichur, Davangere, Chitradurga and Bellary districts.
Details sought
According to sources in the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, the Election Commission sought details on the number of cases booked for violating model code of conduct, violation in use of vehicles for campaigning, deployment of police and polling personnel and the law and order situation in these districts.
The full bench of the Election Commission also met the representatives of the various political parties.
The commission left to Mangalore where it will hold similar meetings to review the preparedness in the remaining five district going to polls in the second phase - Dakshina Kannada, Uttar Kannada, Udupi, Chikmagalur and Shimoga - on Thursday.
Ends tomorrow
Meanwhile, campaigning in 89 Assembly segment spread across 11 districts going to polls on May 10 will end at 5 pm on Thursday.
With the deadline drawing nearer, candidates will race against time to reach the maximum electorate possible, holding street corner meetings and going door-to-door to woo voters.
Withdrawal
The last date for withdrawal of candidature for the third phase of polls ended on Wednesday.
As many as 69 constituencies in nine districts - Belgaum, Bagalkote, Bijapur, Gulbarga, Bidar, Gadag, Dharwad and Haveri will go to polls on May 22.
