Cong leaders busy with PM
DH News Service, Bangalore:

The last-day campaign in the Congress camp ended without star campaigners getting down to streets. As many senior leaders of the party were busy with Prime Minister’s programme they did not take part in campaigns.

Only two leaders who could campaign were former chief minister Veerappa Moily and Union Minister of State for Planning V Narayanaswamy.

Moily accompanied Vijayanagar Congress candidate M Krishnappa in his campaign and sought votes in favour of the party. Narayanaswamy, who hails from Pondicherry in Tamil Nadu, moved around Shantinagar, Chikpet, Sarvagnanagar, BTM layout, where Tamils are located in large numbers and canvassed.

He accompanied Shantinagar candidate N A Haris for campaigning in Goutamnagar, Cambridge layout, Jogupalya and other areas of Shantinagar. He also addressed a public gathering at Anepalya.

Candidates started their day early as they had to complete campaigning by 5 pm. K J George, contesting from Sarvagnanagar, who did road shows along with star campaigners all these days, resorted to padayatra on the final day. He covered Ramaiah layout, Jeevanahalli, Kadagondanahalli and other areas by walk. Similarly candidates in other constituencies also did door-to-door campaign along with party workers.
