Dacoits attack family; loot cash, jewellery

A six member gang of dacoits entered a house in Mahalakshmi layout in the wee hours of Thursday and looted cash and jewellery worth Rs 1,40,000, said SP P S Harsha.


Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, he said a gang of masked dacoits entered the house of Shashidhar Uchchil around 3.30 am and after tying the security guard to a nearby pole, they disarmed him.

Later, they broke open the window sill and entered the house. On hearing the sound, the owner Shashidhar Uchchil, his wife and son woke up.

All of them were physically attacked and they were warned to hand over all the things in the house.

They then made away with Rs 40,000 cash and Rs one lakh worth jewellery. Not only did they put all the members in a room after tying them all up but they also tried to take away the owner’s car.

But in the last minute, they left the car close by and escaped, he said. The muffler and other things which the accused had left behind in the car was later found.

It is learnt that the dacoits who all wore masks were speaking in Hindi, h esiad.

Besides lot of clues regarding the accused have been found and all attempts are being made to nab the accused,  said SP Harsha.
