Winehouse out on bail

Grammy award winner singer Amy Winehouse was released on bail on Wednesday night after being arrested and questioned over alleged drug offenses. The 24-year-old was interviewed by officers after voluntarily attending a police station in east London. Winehouse spent the night in a police cell after allegedly head-butting one man and punching another.

Prof awarded for Anandmath

A Cambridge University professor has won a prestigious award for the first complete English translation of Bankimchandra Chatterji’s novel Anandmath, reports PTI from London. Professor Julius Lipner from the Faculty of Divinity was awarded the '2008 A K Ramanujan Book Prize for Translation' for translating the novel written in Bengali in 1882. The novel defined India's national anthem and inspired a generation of freedom fighters.

Paris wants to have a baby

Paris Hilton wants to have a baby because she thinks she will be a good mother, reports IANS from London. Hilton said: “I have a lot of beautiful animals that I look after and I feel I would have a lot to give to my children.” Paris has been dating rocker Benji Madden of the band Good Charlotte for a few months now.

Pop superstar Madonna has got tongues wagging again after kissing a girl at a concert in Paris. Thesun.co.uk reports that Madonna pulled out a female fan from the crowd and kissed her. She was performing songs from her new album Hard Candy.

Pop diva Mariah Carey has broken her silence over her sudden marriage to Nick Cannon, confirming she tied the knot with the rapper-actor last week, People magazine has reported.

Women ads down in Pak

Barely days after billboards with huge cut-outs of Bollywood actresses Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif had been reinstalled in Pakistan's troubled NWFP, conservative elements  have started pulling them down, reports PTI from Islamabad. The Jamaat-e-Islami youth wing had set a deadline of May 2 for advertising agencies to remove all billboards with images of women.
