Winehouse out on bail
Grammy award winner singer Amy Winehouse was released on bail on Wednesday night after being arrested and questioned over alleged drug offenses. The 24-year-old was interviewed by officers after voluntarily attending a police station in east London. Winehouse spent the night in a police cell after allegedly head-butting one man and punching another.
Prof awarded for Anandmath
A Cambridge University professor has won a prestigious award for the first complete English translation of Bankimchandra Chatterji’s novel Anandmath, reports PTI from London. Professor Julius Lipner from the Faculty of Divinity was awarded the '2008 A K Ramanujan Book Prize for Translation' for translating the novel written in Bengali in 1882. The novel defined India's national anthem and inspired a generation of freedom fighters.
