Debuting Bollywood actor Sikandar Kher was in the City to perform at the IPL match. Metrolife caught up with him for some candid conversation.

Once came Dharmendra, Vinod Khanna, Sanjay Dutt and now comes Sikandar Kher... the buzz in Bollywood goes. The latest from the B (Bollywood) khandan, who is looking to entertain the janata is the son of veteran actors Kiron and Anupam Kher.

So much is the hype around Sikandar’s launch that over a crore has been spent on his intro shot in the May release, Woodstock Villa.

“Thank god I didn’t know that much money was pumped into the scene, nahi toh I would have been so nervous that someone would have had to dhakka maro the bike on which I make an entry!”

Nervousness?... But you are being flaunted as a powerhouse of talent... “I’m really grateful to people for their encouraging words. The expectation is more because of the reputation my parents enjoy as actors. But these expectations inspire me to work a lot harder.”

Sikandar has been working towards fulfiling his ambition since he was four. “Actor is all I wanted to be. I forget the camera and just enjoy my work.’’

The lad has been a student of cinema since his teen days. He has assisted biggies like Yash Chopra and Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Ask him about his favourite filmmaker and he gives you a politically correct,  “I’m a selfish guy, who wants to work with everyone and try all genres.” But probe him further and he admits, “It’s my dream to work with the Bachchans. Abhi is like my elder brother. It’ll be an honour to work with him, Ash and Amitabh Bachchan.” He would love to share screen space with Telugu actor Cheeranjivi and Rajinikanth. “Even if it means being just a bullet in Rajni’s gun or even the gun itself, I’m okay with it.” But as of now the actor who has all the confidence to emerge top gun in Bollywood  is looking forward to Woodstock and Summer 2007.

So is it all work and no play now. “I chill out with films too. PVR is 15 seconds from where I stay and four seats are booked for me every Friday. There is also Kishor da’s music. And I’m, a games person, so I play cricket rather than walking on the treadmill”. Catching up on IPL matches then? “Deccan Chargers are awesome. Look at their batting line up. Only Sachin is missing from the team”.

As an animated conversation on cricket is on, tell him that the women in the hotel lobby are giving him looks. “I like girls. But right now work is my priority. So I won’t have enough time for a woman.”
