In the semifinals on Thursday, Sagar got the better of Venkatesh Krishnan, the fifth seed from Tamil Nadu, in straight sets. The State lad was hardly torubled in his 6-2, 6-2 demolition of the TN player.
In the other last-four stage clash, Rohan scored a hard fought 6-3, 7-6 (10-8) win over Avinash R. After winning the opening set with ease, the range and rhythm in Rohan’s play was missing.
Avinash fought back splendidly, forcing a tie-breaker. Rohan played the big points well to come through 10-8.
It will an all-Karnataka final in the boys’ U-12 section too. top seed BR Nikshep and Evans Mirajkar will battle it out in the title clash. While Nikshep defeated Anirud BS 6-3, 6-4, Mirajkar outclassed Deepak Srikanth 6-0, 6-1.
In the girls’ U-16 semifinals, Karnataka’s SP Ritu scored an easy 6-1, 6-1 win over Jane Jacob to make it to the title clash.
In the final, Ritu will take on Preethi Gokhale, who scored a crushing 6-1, 6-1 win over Karnataka’s Preethi Ujjini.
