Machamada scored a 2-0 win over Mekerira to enter the semifinals of the 12th Kodava Hockey Festival for the Alamengada Cup 2008 here on Thursday.
Gowtham scored the first goal for Machamada in the 20th minute which was a field attempt. That was before Shyam converted a penalty corner in the 50th minute.
In the second quarterfinal match, Anjaparavanda defeated Palanganda 3-2.
Ranjan opened the scoring for Anjaparavanda with a 9th-minute field goal, while Shyam equalised for Palanganda with a goal ten minutes later.
However, Anjaparavanda went ahead again in the 20th minute when Kushalappa struck.
They went further ahead when Ranjan again found the net in the 41st minute. Bopanna pulled one back for Palanganda with a 49th minute strike but their rivals went on to win the match.
