Bangalore Races from May 17

Bangalore Turf Club’s Summer Races 2008 have been postponed from the earlier date and will now be held from May 17.  The revised programme will be announced soon.

BGC emerge victorious

Bangalore Golf Club outplayed KGFGC 10 1/2-7 1/2 in the inter-club golf tournament at the KGF Golf Course over the weekend.

Having taken a huge 8 1/2-3 1/2 lead in singles on the opening day, BGC suffered a setback in doubles. Despite the 2-4 loss, the visitors recorded a comprehensive victory.

Results:

BGC bt KGFGC 10 1/2-7 1/2 (Singles: 8 1/2-3 1/2. Doubles: 2-4).
Seniors: BGC bt KGFGC 7-5 (Singles: 1-3. Doubles: 6-2).

Shashikanth wins golf title

V Shashikanth (52 nett) clinched the 0-13 handicap title in the Ravi Kirloskar Memorial Trophy golf tournament at the Bangalore Golf Club.

KS Suresh won the 14-24 handicap title.

Results:
Ravi Kirloskar Memorial Tropy: Handicap (0-13): V Shashikanth (52 nett) 1; Mohd Akber (57) 2.
14-24: KS Suresh (52) 1; Bina Sreedhar (56) 2.
Kirloskar Electric Cup: Seniors (plus 60): Siddalinga Swamy (58) 1; KS Manjunathaiah (60) 2.
Indumathi Memorial Cup: Suparna Mahesh (53) 1; Jayanthi Ravi (53) 2.

Adarsh, Vinay star for Jayanagar

Powered by half-centuries from Adarsh (61) and Vinay (55), Jayanagar Colts registered an easy 53-run win over Anand Sweets in the under-17 Sir M Vishveswaraiah inter-academy twenty20 cricket tournament at J P Nagar stadium on Thursday.

Brief scores: Jayanagar Colts: 192/3 in 20 overs (Adarsh 61, Vinay 55, Manjunath 27) bt Anand Sweets: 139 all out in 18.1 overs (Adnan 31; Vinay 2-25, Narendra 3-30, Varun 2-16).

Canara Blues: 181/6 in 20 overs (Arjun Gowda 41, Charan 30; Avinash 2/13) lt to BCCC: 83 for no loss in 7.4 overs (Ashwin 52 n.o.)

Ganesh effort goes in vain

Ganesh’s all-round effort went in vain as JPNSC went down by seven wickets to BCA in the under-16 inter-camp cricket tournament at the National College grounds on Thursday.

Brief scores: RKCA: 87 all out IN 22 overs (Mehul 25; Yathesh 2-23, Karthik 2-11, Sharath 2-14, Prajwal 2-9) lt to Best Club: 90/2 in 7.4 overs (Kishan 48; Akshay 2-15).

JPNSC: 108 all out in 22.2 overs (Ganesh A 45; Gaurav 3-23, Kushal Reddy 4-16) lt to BCA: 112/3 in 18.5 overs (V Gowda 50, Sripad 43 n.o.; Ganesh 3-20).
