Private people grabbing institute property
DH News Service, Chikkaballapur:
The Sir MV Memorial Educational Institution Welfare Committee has alleged that a few private parties are trying to grab the property belonging to the institution, which was started 45 years ago.

The institution was built with contributions from general public. The institution has been imparting quality education to students belonging to rural areas by charging a nominal fee. But, now the property belonging to the institution has been transferred to a trust started by some private people, said Kalpana, Laxminarayana, Ranganath, Aravindkumar and others of the committee, in a press release.

The institution was set up in 1962 by the founder president S Gopal Rao. Now the institute boasts of a high school, a pre-university college, a BBM college and primary schools. But these institutes have been recently transferred to newly-started S Gopal Rao Memorial Educational Trust, they alleged.

Intentionally, the Sir MV Memorial Educational Institute Association has been rendered non-existent. The registration of the Association had not been renewed for the last 4-5 years deliberately. The government should have forfeited the property when the association was not renewed. However, the president and members of the trust have silently transferred the property to the trust.

Many VIPs are members of the trust and they should have protected the public property, which is in the name of Sir M Vishwesharaya. However, the property has gone to the hands of some private people, they alleged.

The members of the committee requested the government to immediately abolish the trust and register criminal proceeding s against the members of the trust.
