Famed suicides of tinsel town
A screen rival of Zeenat Aman, Parveen Babi died at home in Mumbai unheard-uncared.

Guru Dutt (Guru Dutt Shiv Shankar Padukone) : The celebrated film director-actor known for cine classics such as Pyaasa, Kaagaz Ke Phool and Sahib, Bibi Aur Ghulam. Born in Bangalore. An extremely sensitive individual with a compusive  forlorn attitude of ‘…ye duniya agar mil bhi jaye to kya hain.’ Alone in his last moments in Mumbai. (1964).

Parveen Babi: A screen rival of Zeenat Aman, died  at home in Mumbai unheard-uncared.  Starred in Amar Akbar Anthony, Deewar,  Halal and Shaan opposite Amitabh Bachchan, made the cover of Time magazine.  Hailed from a ‘Nawab’ family from Gujarat. An intelligent and sensitive individual who interacted with philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurthy.  None of  her famed cine friends and ex-husbands came to her help while she struggled with her acute mental illness. (2005).

Nafisa Joseph: An upcoming model and former Miss India universe with a happy go lucky attitude. Born in Bangalore. Something went terribly wrong in just three hours on the fateful day. Hanged herself in her residence at Mumbai. It is alleged that she was forced to commit suicide by the behavior of fiancé. (2004)

Kalpana: The famed Kannada actress of 1960s and 70s paired with director Puttanna Kanagal to give many a memorable film. She played the role of tragedienne to perefection in films like Sharapanjara, Gejje Pooje and Bellimoda. She was romantically linked to Kanagal, but when the relations soured, she went into penury and committed suicide. (1979)
