"This is a crucial match. We realise the importance of it, and we are pretty confident that we can stage a comeback here. We are starting tomorrow's match with a fresh mindset," Rajput said here on Saturday.
Rajput added that the team's morale has not taken beating from last match's defeat. "It was just one of those games that Pakistan batted well. They had applied really well. Younis batted quite superbly and Misbah gave him good support. But we are not unduly worried about that match," he said.
The former Indian batsmen admitted that their strategy of picking up an extra batsman in the place of left-arm spinner Murali Kartik did not click.
"The Mohali wicket has always helped the seamers. But sometimes strategies are bound to misfire, and on the hindsight we could have had a second spinner. But we will take a decision on the second spinner for this match only after inspecting the pitch in the morning," he said.
On paceman S Sreesanth cooling the heals in this series, Rajput said they did not want to change the team for the sake of it. "Our bowlers are bowling well, and only that matters in the end. There is no point in talking about the lack of variety just because we are fielding three left-arm pacemen (Zaheer Khan, RP Singh and Irfan Pathan). They are bowling well at the moment," he said.
On the strategy to be adopted in the end overs, Rajput said, "We know they are keeping the wickets for the end to have a go at the bowlers. We will try to be one-up against them," he said. Both teams arrived here only late in the evening from Lucknow.
