The richest dead

Elvis Presley, who earned an estimated $49 million in 2006, has reclaimed the number one spot on Forbes’s list of Top-Earning Dead Celebrities. He last topped the list in 2005, reports AP from Washington.

John Lennon ranked second with $44 million, followed by Charles M. Schulz ($35 million), George Harrison ($22 million), Albert Einstein ($18 million) and James Dean with $3.5 million being the lowest. Elvis died in 1977, but his estate still make millions from royalties, DVD sales, licensing deals and tourism at Graceland, his mansion in Memphis.

Forbes said the dead celebrities earned a combined $232 million in the past 12 months.

Spicy photo op

The pop-music group Spice Girls are talking with lingerie company Victoria’s Secret for a photo op wearing only lingeries next month, reports ANI from London.  The photo op deal was cut after Spice Girls signed an 8 million pound contract with the lingerie firm to sell the band’s “Greatest Hits” album.

“The girls are working out like crazy to ensure there’s no need for any airbrushing afterwards,” a source told a UK newspaper. However, the girls have been assured that the snaps will be tasteful and not at all “slutty” despite the excessive exposure.

A sour Berry?

Actress Halle Berry is trying to fight diabetes by eating well and leading a simple life, reports ANI from Washington. She was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and had to cancel a TV show called “Living Dolls”. But now she is a Type 2 diabetic because she is not dependent on insulin.  “I’ve managed to wean myself off insulin, so now I like to put myself in the Type 2 category,” she said.
