A series of canvas paintings on Kerala, the God’s Own Country by artist Eby N Joseph are capable enough to take onlookers to the nostalgia of lost enchanting splendour of the state’s landscapes. Virgin beaches, vast oceans, rocks stretched into the far sea, free flowing rivers, palm fringed hills, blue mountains, canopy of emerald landscapes are the subjects of the paintings.
The series of portraits, named as Kerala Darsanam (Kerala Landscapes) will be exhibited at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat from November 2 to 15. It is fourth time that an exhibition of Eby’s painting is being held in the City. He has conducted exhibitions and demonstrations in 22 major cities accross the coutry so far.

The main feature of the paintings is that they are comprehensible for even those from low art literacy which elavate them to an international standard. The adeptness in retaining three dimensional view in in the portraits is superb. Each work takes the connoisseur from a plain view of the picture to a visual experience that turns out to be spiritual.
An artistic venture by Eby, aimed at portraying the varied visual beauty of Kerala on canvases, commenced in the year 2000, is heading towards its goal with 670 paintings having finished so far. Along with the exhibition, portrait demonstrations will be held for art lovers on certain selected dates. Luminaries from various fields who have captured national attention will also be portrayed during the demonstration. Thirty two pictures will be arranged in the exhibition.
