Dance festival at Rangamandira
International Dance Alliance and Padmalaya Centre for Performing Arts have come together once again this year to present yet another unique theme-based dance festival ‘RASAA at A.D.A Rangamandira on 3rd November at 6 PM. This is an opportunity to witness a unique confluence of different styles of Indian and contemporary dance forms and a cultural journey through a diverse palette!
Celebration of dance
Dance school Sukruti Natyalaya is celebrating its seventh anniversary this year. To mark the anniversary, the dance school is planning to celebrate the annual day on November 3. The celebrations will include the premiere of the ballet, ‘Hari Sarvottama’ (based on Bhakta Prahlad’s life), created exclusively for the event.
The opening performance will be ‘Aham Namaami’ – a devotional tribute to dance. The two-hour programme will be performed by 84 students of Sukruti Natyalaya for an invited audience at Mangala Auditorium, NMKRV college premises, Bangalore.
Ensemble of dance and music
Kala Nadam’ 07, a celebration of classical dance and music, will be held at the Chowdiah Memorial Hall on November 3 and 4 in aid of the cancer patients of Kidwai Memorial Institite of Oncology.
On November 3, the performances are Hindustani vocal by Pandit Dr Nagaraj Havaldar from 5 to 6 pm, Sringara Lahiri (Bharathanatyam) by Soundarya Srivatsa and P Praveen Kumar from 6 to 6.45 pm, Nadam ensemble (Kathak) from 7 to 7.45 pm, Bharatanatyam by the Kirans from 7.45 to 8.30 pm.
November 4 will have Carnatic vocal by Vidwan Sri S Shankar from 5 to 6 pm, Bharatanatyam by Neewin Hershall from 6 to 6.45 pm, Kathak by Abhimanyu Lal and Vidha Lal from 7 to 7.45 pm, Indian contemporary by Stem Dance Kampani from 7.45 to 8.30 pm. Celebrating through dance
Nrityanidhi, a Mumbai-based dance institute will be presenting `Dhwani’ _ Indian classical dance, primarily Kathak, to old and new songs from the Hindi cinema at Dr Ambedkar Bhavan on November 3, from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm. Shoma, the director of the dance institute, will be performing in her created style to a Kannada song too.
Buoyancee, which works on developing confidence in its participants, will be presenting Nrityanidhi as it not only disciplines students but also works on their self-esteem. Through Nrityanidhi, Buyoncee is also raising funds for its various projects in November when it ‘Celebrates Children’.
Tree planting
Rajanet Yegneswaran Charitable Trust is planting 372 tree saplings at Sri Shirdi Sai Residential Layout, Medahally off Old Madras Road as part of the second anniversary of the trust on November 1. While tree planting programme will start at 10 am, formal anniversary function will begin at 4.30 pm on the same day. The trust had planted 250 trees last year. More than 1000 plants have been planted by the Trust in the city so far.
Theatre workshop
Expressions Theatre Group is starting its 3rd theatre workshop for children (7 to 13 years) from 10th November, 2007. The workshop will be held only on weekends for 3 months. Designed to enhance theatre skills, personality development and creativity, the module includes pantomime, theatre games, voice modulation, meditation, script reading, story telling, building a machine, creating scenes and dual acting. Science, tech quiz
Jack Kilby science and technology quiz, a national-level quiz for school students of class 8 to 10, aiming to inculcate the spirit of enquiry and innovation, is being organised in Chennai, New Delhi and Bangalore. Finals will take place in Bangalore on November 11 at St John’s Auditorium, Kormangala. There should be two members per team. Prizes incluse high-end robotic kits, telescopes and binoculars. The ‘Landmark quiz’ will be hosted by Derek O’Brien on November 1 from 3.30 pm onwards (prelims begin at 3.30 pm begin and finals at 5.30 pm at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall.
