Swearing-in: Traffic to be diverted

Traffic in and around Vidhana Soudha will be diverted from 11 am to 1 pm on Monday, as more than 25,000 people are expected to take part in the oath-taking ceremony of the new Chief Minister, in front of Vidhana Soudha East gate.


Motorists and general public have been requested to take alternative roads.

Police have made elaborate security arrangements for the swearing-in of the new chief minister on Monday. Six DCPs will supervise the security measures, while 15 ACPs, 40 inspectors, 100 sub inspectors, 1,000 constables and 25 platoons of Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) and City Armed Reserve will be pressed into service.

Leaders like L K Advani, Rajnath Singh and Narendra Modi, who have been given Z plus security are expected to participate in the function.

Priority has been given for security of the leaders. As many as 30,000 people are likely to attend the event and separate seating arrangements have been made for VVIPs, DCP (Central) B N S Reddy said.

The diversions are:

Vehicular movement from K R Circle to Police Thimmaiah Circle and from Police Thimmaiah Circle to K R Circle on Ambedkar Veedhi will be banned. The vehicles can take routes inside Cubbon Park and Nrupatunga Road. The vehicles can reach destinations via Thimmaiah Circle towards Rajbhavan and Coffee Board.

BMTC buses from Sheshadri Road and Mysore Bank towards Shivajinagar via Palace Road, can take Maharani College Circle and reach destinations (towards COD), A G’s Junction, Basaveshwar Junction and LRDE junction.

VVIP vehicles (convoy of Governor and others): The vehicles can pass through AG’s Junction and reach Vidhana Soudha West gate. Take north direction at Kengal Hanumanthaiah statue and park vehicle at parking lots on way to Grand Stand near the portico.

However, the vehicles should be stopped at Vidhana Soudha and the VVIPs can enter inside by walking.Invitees with passes can park their vehicles in the parking lots in the Vikas Soudha.

Those attending the function can park their vehicles inside Cubbon Park, on roads towards Siddalingaiah Circle inside the Cubbon Park and KGID crosses.

Vehicular movement from Hudson Circle, Siddalingaiah Circle, Queen’s Circle and CTO Circle towards Vidhana Soudha via Cubbon Park has been banned.

The vehicles can reach their destinations using Kasturba Road, Siddalingiah Circle, Queen’s Circle, Queen’s Road and Rajbhavan Road.

Vehicles from Shimoga and Tumkur Roads: Use Peenya, Yeshwanthpura Circle, BHEL Circle, CV Raman Road, Mekhri Circle, Jayamahal Road, Amanullah Khan Gate, Amanullah Khan Maidan.

Vehicles from Bellary Road: Use Mekhri Circle, Jayamahal Road, Amanullah Khan Gate and Amanullah Khan Maidan.

Vehicles from Kolar: Use KR Puram Road, Old Madras Road, Trinity Road, Begum Mahal, Gangadhar Chetty Road, Dickenson Road, Dobhighat, Kamaraj Road-Dickenson Junction, Cubon Road, CTO Circle. Passengers can get down at CTO Junction and reach Vidhana Soudha by walk.
