Tourist help desks will be opened at 28 tourists spots in Southern Range to provide security to the tourists, said IGP (Southern Range) Dr R P Sharma.
Speaking after inaugurating a tourists help desk near Raja Seat in Madikeri on Sunday, he said of the 28 tourists spots, the help desk has been opened at 16 places. All the measures have been taken to set up help desks in the remaining 12 spots.
“Though the government is popularising tourism, we have failed in providing security to the tourists. Hence, the tourism has not developed as we expected.”
There is a need to protect the tourists from miscreants. In this regard, there is a need to place a policeman outside the tourist spot.
In this backgroud, the department has come forward to set up tourist help desks.
