A decision on celebrating the traditional Huttari Habba on November 25, was taken at Padi Sri Iggutappa Temple on Saturday. Huttari is popularly known as the Suggi festival of Kodagu district.
A group comprising astrologer K M Shashi, Devatakka Paradanda Changappa, Managing Committee President Paradanda Kaverappa and the society representatives came to this resolution as they found suitable muhurat to Kaladcha fest on November 24 as per the tradition.
The ritual of ‘nere kattuvudu’ will be observed at 7 pm on Nov 25 during Rohini nakshatra, followed by ‘kadiru tegeyuvudu’ at 8 pm and distribution of prasadam at 9 pm. The public have been asked to observe the rituals at 7.15 pm, 8.15 pm and 9.15 pm respectively in their homes.
Paradanda Changappa has requested the people not to do any violence, hunting, harvesting and marriage functions till 4.30 pm on Nov 24. Temple Managing Committee members Mechanda Acchaiah, Ayyappa, Kundyolanda Medappa, K Ganapathi, Nambudumada Somanna among others were present.
