Majority Prefer “Karnataka”

The Mysore Pradesh Congress Committee today voted by a large majority a non-official resolution recommending to the AICC to change the present name of the Pradesh Congress into Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee.
The decision of the Committee was received with thunderous cheers when President Channiah announced the details of the Secret ballot - 71 in favour of Karnataka and 47 opposing the change.
Imposed Hindi Will Not Help
Bangalore, Nov 11
Citizens of Bangalore resented today any move to impose Hindi replacing English as the official language and as medium of higher education particularly at the present time “since non-Hindi Indians will suffer more by the change.”

President Brezhnev Dead
Moscow, November 11
President Leonid Brezhnev, architect of Soviet strategic equality with the United States and staunch friend of India, is dead.
His sudden death yesterday morning at the age of 75 ends the 18 long years of the Brezhnev era marked by an expansive foreign policy sustained political stability and strategic growth of military power. The official announcement came 26 and a half hours after the death.
