A day after BJP President Rajnath Singh announced an all BJP delegation’s visit to Nandigram with Rajya Sabha MP S S Ahluwalia at its head, the leader of opposition L K Advani himself decided to lead an NDA team to the south of West Bengal on Tuesday for an “on the spot study of the situation” in the village which has become a political hot spot on account of the SEZ controversy.
The “troubled Nandigram” has been put high on BJP’s political agenda with the party expected to make it “a talking point” in the poll campaigns in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, sources in the party told Deccan Herald.
The party may even make “a common cause” with the Trinamool Congress they said.
The newly announced nine-member party of the NDA delegation comprise Sushma Swaraj, S S Ahluwali and Chandan Mitra (BJP), Sharad Pawar(JD-U), Braja Kishore Tripathi (Biju-JD), Anant Gudhe(Shiv Sena), Sukhbir Sigh Badal(SAD) and Sharad Anant Rao Joshi(MP).
The NDA leaders would reach Kolkata on Tuesday morning and then proceed towards Nandigram.
Advani and members of the delegation would also visit Tamluk to oversee the “injured receiving treatment”, according to Ahluwalia, the BJP Rajya Sabha MP, who is a part of the team which is going for on the spot study of the volatile situation at Nandigram.
