Addressing the first meeting of additional chief secretaries, principal secretaries and secretaries to the Government after being sworn-in as the chief minister, Yeddyurappa candidly asked them to come up with suggestions if any, for removing the impediments in implementing the budget proposals.
“From our two budgets, you have perhaps understood our priorities. Your top priority should be to gear up the administration, which has slackened a bit during the last couple of months, to implement the programmes highlighted in the budget. Once the full-fledged ministry comes into being, let us move out of the State capital for a day or two to freely discuss the challenges and also measures to be taken to deliver goods,” Yeddyurappa stated.
Describing the task of distribution of ration cards, implementation of Bhagya Lakshmi scheme and Sandhya-Suraksha scheme as his “dream-schemes”, Yeddyurappa added that within a month, steps should be initiated to distribute the ration cards to all eligible poor in the State. “I will not tolerate if any person is forced to run around the Vidhana Soudha with an application for a ration card. Be liberal in helping the poor; don’t subject them to harassment with your rules and regulations,” he said.
Referring to the ban on arrack and also lottery, Yeddyurappa said a clear message should be sent to all the officers concerned that no slackness will be tolerated in strictly following the Government orders. Greater seriousness should also be shown in implementing the recommendations of Nanjundappa Committee report to eradicate the regional imbalance.
JANATA DARSHAN
Referring to the Janata Darshan programme launched by former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, Yeddyurappa wondered what did the line-up of thousands of petitioners before the chief minister’s residence indicate?
Asserting that it was not a “happy sign”, Yeddyurappa added that all the district in-charge ministers would be henceforth asked to hold “Janata Darshan” programmes once in a week or fortnight at every district headquarter. “Within 24-hours the grievances should be redressed wherever possible,” he added.
Village stay
According to a Tumkur report, Yeddyurappa might begin his village stay campaign from Tumkur district. He will stay at Burudeghatta village, Tiptur taluk on November 19, sources said. The arrangements for the stay have already begun in the party.
