Excon 2007 — the construction equipment and technology trade fair organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), will be inaugurated here on Wednesday at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC).
The five day expo is expected to attract 55,000 business visitors and 282 exhibitors including JCB, Volvo, Schwing Stetter, SREI and Kobelco.
Third largest
According to Excon Chairman & JCB India’s MD Vipin Sondhi, the fair, which is Asia’s third largest, is presented in the context of unprecedented economic growth in India focussing on infrastructure development.
“The primary aim of Excon 2007 is to position India as a global sourcing hub for construction equipment, components and construction related knowledge based activities,” he added. Spread over 1,10,000 sq metres of space, the event will showcase products and services in the construction equipment sector.
The expo will also showcase the technological prowess of the construction industry like dozers, earth excavator, integrated concrete - bitumen batching, hydraulic and pneumatic drilling equipment, front end loaders, graders and vibratory soil compactors, paving equipment, material handling equipment, mixing equipment, mobile and stationary crushing equipment etc.
Panel discussion
There will also be international pavilions from Germany, United Kingdom, South Korea, Italy and China, etc.
The fourth edition of the Excon 2007, will also feature a global CEO’s panel discussion on construction equipment industry. Chief Executive Officers from about 16 nations are expected to take part in the event.
Excon 2007 will be inaugurated by Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur.
