According to a press release, a team of eight internationally renowned names in dentistry, led by Professor Jocelyne Feine from McGill University in Canada, will be the delegates in the workshop. Prof Feine is specialised in edentulous, quality of life, treatment satisfaction, implants, health care economics, psychophysics, pain assessment, temporomandibular joint disorders and clinical trials.
The other distinguished members of this team include Dr Gopalakrishnan Netuveli (International Centre for Life course Studies in Society and Health, Imperial College London, UK), Dr Jamil David (Associate Professor at Department of Community Dentistry, University of Bergen, Norway), Dr Paul Allison (Associate Professor, Faculty of Dentistry, McGill University, Canada), Dr Srivats Bharadwaj (Associate Professor, Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, NSVK Dental College Rajiv Gandhi University Bangalore), Dr Belinda Nicolau (Assistant Professor, Unit of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, McGill University), and Professor Jagjit Singh Dhaliwal (Department of Periodontology, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot).
The workshop is aimed at establishing relationships with high calibre dental faculty in India, to mutually exchange knowledge, to explore possibilities of and facilitate research collaborations, to offer support and training, if necessary, in research-related activities - methodology, publishing and funding, the release said. The workshop will include sessions on identifying areas of mutual research interest, applying for international grants, getting research published, research governance and ethics, research methods and others, depending on the particular institutional need. Both the institutes will greatly be benefited by this workshop and will be able to further promote dental research in India to its full potential with international collaborations.
