Various programmes are designed by Transport Department for November which will be observed as ‘Air Pollution Control Month.’ The department will design plans to control carbon emission from vehicles and strict implementation of laws related to the same during the period.
A programme was held at the premises of Regional Transport Authority in the city recently to mark the launching of ‘Air Pollution Control Month.’ Environment activist Prof B M Kumaraswamy who inaugurated the programme said that carbon dioxide emitted by the vehicles was hazardous for human health. He stressed on the need to create public awareness against air pollution. Emission checking for the vehicles on regular basis should be made mandatory. Air pollution can also be combated by increasing the green cover, he noted.
RTO Parvataraja Wodeyar, Jayaprakash of Bus Owners’ Association, Jyotiprakash of Truck Owners’ Association took part in the programme.
