Lack of basic amenities in the Hosatti village under the Gundumunugu gram panchayat limits of the taluk has made life difficult for the villagers.
Even after 60 years of independence, the village has not got bus facility, which is the main demand of the villagers. This village, which is 30 kms away form the taluk centre falls between Chikkajogihalli and Gundumunugu villages. The population of the village is approximately 500 to 600.
As there is no bus facility to the village, the villagers have to walk at least five kms to go to any village. Hulkunte, Bhimasamudra, Gundumunugu Cross and Hurulihal, where buses ply are all at least five kms away from Hosatti village. As the school in the village is only upto class five, the students have to go to the nearby villages for higher classes. About 30 students walk upto 10 km daily to reach their schools. During rainy season, the children have to cross two streams. ONe can imagine the plight of these children.
If any of the villager falls sick, they have to walk to the government hospital in Chikkajogihalli, which is 10 kms away from the village. For the treatment of animals too, one has to go to Chikkajogihalli. The fair price shop is two kms away in Obbalashettyhalli.
Only half of the villagers have received ration cards. There are no proper streetlights facility in the village. With no proper lights, there are incidents of bears attacking villagers.
Earlier, the authorities concerned visited the village and reviewed the situation to provide bus facility. One bus also plied to the village on experimental basis. But, after that there has been no news, say the seniors of the village.
At present, a bus from Kudligi plies to Hulikunte village, which is four kms from the village and another bus to Choranur, which is five kms away.
If these buses were made to ply via Hosatti village, it would make things easier for the villagers.
