Very Substantial Loan To India
Washington, Nov 13.
President Eisenhower is about to make a decision on the extent of proposed US aid for India’s Second Five-Year Plan, authoritative sources said today.
All the recommendations were discussed by the President at a special Foreign Aid Conference at the White House today with Vice-President Nixon, Secretary of State Dulles, Secretary of the Treasury Anderson and Director of the Budget Bureau Percival Brundage.
‘Get Out Of Old Doctrines’
New Delhi, Nov 13.
Prime Minister Nehru warned today that the world, which had arrived at the inter-planetary age stood on the verge of total disaster and could be saved from it only by getting out of the old ways of thinking, conflict and cold war atmosphere.

Swoop On Akalis, Over 400 Arrested
Chandigarh, Nov. 13.
The Punjab police have launched a major drive against Akali agitators, taking into custody more than 400 of them in various parts of the State since last night.
The Akali Dal leadership had announced that party volunteers would demonstrate in Delhi next week when the Assam Games open in the capital.
As the police crackdown was under way, terrorists exploded powerful country bombs in places in the state, official sources said here today.
