Baby killed, beloved survives
DH News Service,Bangalore :

In a disturbing incident, a person who had cheated a girl after assuring to marry her, has tried to push the victim into Varuna Canal, after throwing the baby into it, near Gorur, on Monday night. The eleven-month-old girl child died in the incident.
It is said that Lokesh (27), a resident of Ashokapuram, who was working with a welding shop in Vidyaranyapuram, was in love with an eighteen year old girl, for the past five years. But, he had been refusing to marry her even after the girl gave birth to a child.
Upset over this, she had filed a complaint of rape against him at the Women’s Police Station more than a year ago. Acting on the same, the sleuths had arrested Lokesh too in this regard. The police had decided to conduct DNA test on the child. Fearing that the truth will come out if the test is conducted, the accused plotted to eliminate the mother-daughter duo.
Feigning to marry her, he took her into his confidence. Later, he took the duo to Varuna Canal near Gorur. Reportedly, he threw the child into the canal and fled the scene when she raised an alarm after he tried to push her also. The baby, which had been washed away in the incident, was fished out. Mysore South Police have registered a case in this regard and are investigating. They have arrested Hanuma, brother of the accused, in this connection.
