Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan will be starting four new district education centres in the State taking the total number to 10.
The new centres would be set up at Shimoga, Dharwad, Bellary and Davangere. Apart from housing CBSE schools, they will also offer courses in management studies and journalism. Already centres were functioning in Mysore, Kodagu, Dakshina Kannada, Bellary, Belgaum and Bagalkot districts.
“The four new district centres will promote educational, literary and cultural activities,” H N Suresh, Director, programmes and projects, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan told reporters on Tuesday.
He added that the State government has already allotted land for the new centres. He said the Bhavan had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the BBMP to start a CBSE school in Malleswaram. “The school will have classes upto tenth standard and provide education to children from the weaker sections of the society,” he added.
Bhavanotsava
Bhavanotsava, the anniversary celebrations of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan will be held in Bangalore between November 16 and 23.
Cultural programmes like music, dance, theatre, visual arts, folk, yoga and a book exhibition will be organised as part of the celebrations. Six translated works of noted scholar Dr K M Munshi will also be released during the inauguration.
