Save the lake
Arehalli lake near Uttarahalli Circle on the road to Kengeri is a beautiful water body with an island in the middle with fish and attracts many birds. Of late many apartments and houses have come up in its catchment area. The sewage from these houses are let in soak pits dug up on the road. Hence, there is the danger of dirty water, muck and silt in these pits overflowing in to the nearby lake. Authorities should immediately construct a proper sewage system for the whole area and prevent the lake from dying.

Garbage not cleaned
The garbage dumped at the beginning of 12th Cross, BTM Layout, 16th Main Road is not being cleared at all. Every morning, the municipal trolleys pulled by ladies collect the garbage from every house and dump them into that field. If it rains, the stink emanates from the garbage and the garbage flows to the the road. Every month, municipal authorities are collecting money from each resident for disposal of garbage, but it is not doing its work properly. Will the concerned authorities take immediate steps to dispose the garbage regularly at the earliest?

Motorists’ nightmare
Crossing Beniganahalli on Old Madras Road is a motorist’s nightmare. Rains have added to this problem. Pedestrians also find it very difficult as the roads are slushy and there are no proper pavements. I request the authorities concerned to act fast and take up the work of broadening the railway underpass which is the bottleneck on this stretch. Down the road towards K R Puram, the parks below the flyovers should be narrowed down to the minimum and a right turn to Pai Layout should be given an amber light signal.
Yashoda Poonacha,

Consumer woes
In a vast area like Rajarajeswary Nagar, the facilities in the AE office with a skeleton staff seem to be too insufficient to meet the needs of consumers. The cash counter at the office works only for four hours a day (8.30 to 2.30 pm). Any urgent remittance of money is to be made at the Kengeri BESCom which is four km away from the area and causes a lot of inconvenience to the public. For a temporary connection, the consumers have to pay a penalty of Rs 150 per day in the case of the remittance date being overdue.
Further, they have to produce the meter reading in front of AE at Rajarajeswary Nagar before going to Kengery to remit the money. To overcome these difficulties, it is necessary to upgrade the office to the AEE level and open cash counter in the Rajarajeswary Nagar itself with a timing up to 4.30 pm.
