Humour festival
Antharanga, a creative amateur theatre group in the City, is organising Haasya Mela (humour extravaganza) on November 17 and 18 at H N Kalakshetra, National College, Jayanagar in memory of the renowned theatre personality late Gubbi Veeranna and well known journalist and humourist late YNK.
The first day programmes will be inaugurated by Dr Master Hirannaia and C R Simha, famous theatre personalities, by unveiling the photographs of Gubbi Veeranna and YNK at 5.30 pm on November 17.
Well-known humourists like M S Narasimha Murthy, Prof Krishna Gouda, Gangavathy Pranesh, C R Simha, Kirlosker Sathya, Narahari Dixit, Sundarashree, N Ramanath, R Srinath, H V Nataraj, Achutha Rao Padoki and Gundu Rao and team will enthrall the audience with their witty programmes. ‘Masth Masth Humour’ by Ravi Bhajanthri and team will be another attraction of the event. Hirannaiah Mitra Mandala will present ‘Sadarame’ drama sequences while Gana Vinodini will perform different humourous episodes.
French pop art
Traveller, photographer, pop artist, French Painter Xavier Hiquet showcases at Olive Beach, his latest series of Pop Art, entitled “Voyages”, inspired by his passion for travel across the world. Olive Beach plays host to talented self taught French artist Xavier Hiquet’s first ever exhibition in Bangalore from November 18 to 24.
Puppetry Carnival
Join Kara’s experienced team of educators and help Pachakka, the little turtle, find a new home. This is an interactive celebration of books and stories using puppets, live theatre and a range of multi-sensorial activities. Winter art
The Hoopla Club in association with United Arts Society, Kemp fort and Big FM brings you the winter art Fungama. This is open for children between the age group six to 16 years and various workshops will be conducted covering the art forms like clay modeling, sand art, graffiti, theatre, dance — Indian folk, hip hop and rock-n-roll etc,.
There are also various fun filled games with and prizes to be won each Sunday and a treasure hunt for the big prize which will go on all through the carnival. The celebrations will take place every Sunday for the next six weeks starting from November 18 between 4 pm and 8 pm at Kempfort on Airport Road. Story-telling training
K athalaya will be conducting their basic academy training session for story-telling from December 1. The sessions will take place on December 1, 8, 15, 21 and 22 from 10.30 am to 4 pm. Music festival
Hindustani Sangeeta Kalakara Mandali is organising its annual music festival on November 18 at the Bangalore Gayana Samaja, K R Road, Opposite BIT.
There will be a vocal recital by Pandit Vijay Sardeshmukh of Pune, disciple of Pt Kumar Gandharv at the inaugural session beginning at 10 am. He will be accompanied by Vyasamurti Katti on harmonium and Udayaraj Karpur on tabla. In the evening session beginning at 5.30 pm there will be felicitation to Pt Indudhar Nirody, who will then render a vocal recital. This will be followed by Milana, a unique instrumental concert by Ravindra Katoti on harmonium, M B Prakash and P Ravindra on accordions and Udayaraj Karpur on tabla.
Photography exhibition
The Light and Life Academy, a professional photography institute, is organising a photography exhibition is being held at Max Mueller Bhavan on CMH Road, Indiranagar from November 14 to 17. re today. The exhibition comprises photographs of the students of 2007 batch of the Academy.
