Contest beckons talent
Ten lakh students from 5000 schools in 34 cities across the country are all set to participate in the ‘2007 Classmate Contest’ which is to take place in the City. Among the participants, 300 are from the City alone. An initiative of ITC’s greetings, gifting and stationary business, the event is a platform for budding artists and writers to showcase their talent.
The event consists of two categories — Classmate Young Author and Young Artist Contest. Beginning with an Intra School competition, 10 students from each school will compete for the next round. Three winners will be chosen from each city to participate in the finals at Mumbai in January 2008. The winner of the Young Author will be declared by a jury headed by renowned author Ruskin Bond and will win a trip to Paris. And also, a book edited by the author comprising of the stories of all national finalists will be published by Rupa & Co. The top 40 paintings of Young Artist Contest will be exhibited in Mumbai in an All India Painting Exhibition. Interested persons may register at the school itself.
