Interested can send application forms for the training programme being organised for rural journalists under the joint aegis of Karnataka Media Academy, Village Development and Panchayat Raj Department. Only 25 rural journalists will be allowed to participate. The Information Department officers of the two districts and District Journalists’ Association will go through the application forms and select the participants. The participants must be employed in any State, district or taluk-level journals and they must compulsorily stay in the camp for three days.
On the second day of the camp, the participants will be provided an opportunity to hold discussions with the officials of a panchayat and villagers there.
During the camp, lectures will be held on various topics including Panchayat Raj system, decentralisation of power and village administration, wherein resource persons and senior journalists will deliver the talks. Moreover, resource persons will also deliver lectures and hold discussions on Right to Information Act, writing articles and communication skills. The academy will bear the expenditure of participants’ travel fare, food and lodging expenditure.
